Step 1: Salesforce Configuration
Here’s how to configure your Salesforce account and get it ready for the integration with Mialchimp via SyncApps:
Step 2: Mailchimp Configuration
Connect your Mailchimp account in this step by tapping the “Connect” button. You will then be directed to the oAuth page that’ll log in to Mailchimp. Enter your Mailchimp credentials here.
Step 3: Add-Ons
Sync Add-Ons are optional. Available Add-Ons in Step 3 of the Set-Up may depend on which Plan and integration you select.
Step 4: Field Mapping
Field Mapping is optional. Basic fields such as Email address, First Name, Last Name, and Email Opt Out are already pre-mapped even if you haven’t enabled this Step. Otherwise, if you have more additional fields to map, then you’ll have to set these fields up in Step 4.
Step 5: Filtering and Segmentation
This is one of our most powerful features, which is why it’s intensely used by most of our subscribers. Let’s say you have thousands of records in NetSuite and you only want to pull out the records with specific criteria. With SyncApps, only these records will be synced to your Mailchimp Main Audience.
Step 6: Scheduling
Finally, the very last step. Just select the time when you would like to sync your data automatically.
What happens when you sync Mailchimp to Salesforce?
When a Campaign is created in Salesforce and gets synced to Mailchimp, it creates a Group of the campaign members. However, when any Mailchimp Email Campaign is sent to the List or Group flows back from Mailchimp to Salesforce, a new Salesforce Campaign gets created in Salesforce with the metrics such as opens, clicks, and bounces.
What is a campaign in Salesforce?
In Mailchimp, the term, “Campaign” is an email while in Salesforce, “Campaign” is a defined group to which people can be added and removed based on marketing preference. Can you use an existing audience in Mailchimp?
You can either use an existing Audience or a new test Audience. For the new test Audience, manually create it in Mailchimp as this will be used for the integration in SyncApps.
Does Mailchimp give a timestamp?
Note: The Mailchimp API does not have an efficient way to update for “Sent” in the Campaign Member Status for Automation Campaigns (not regular Email Campaigns) as Mailchimp does not give a timestamp when the actual sending is done. This status is not always 100% exact.

How does Salesforce report activity in terms of opens, clicks, bounces, etc.?

Currently, SyncApps tracks the number of clicks, opens, bounces for each record in campaigns. You will just need to put the fields into the appropriate layout (s).
Salesforce Setup
In Step 1 of your integration, there are options to use Campaigns, List Views to segment to Mailchimp Groups, and Tags under your Main Audience.

Connect your Mailchimp account in this step by tapping the “Connect” button. You will then be directed to the oAuth page that’ll log in to your software. For some, they’ll need to enter their Mailchimp credentials here.
Using Filtering and Segmentation in Step 5 for Group or Tag Segmentation in Mailchimp
If you don’t have a Campaign feature in Salesforce or your organization just does not use Campaigns in Salesforce, then this is another workaround for segmenting the records in Mailchimp.
